Long awaited GRADUATION!

Wow, so I fully expected to have a post up about my Graduation about 1 1/2 weeks ago but with the Holidays, time FLEW! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! I know I sure did! It was filled with lots of laughter and adventures with family and future family! Such a blessing!

Christmas tree!

I’m going to refrain from doing a full recap of the Christmas and New Yearsย  celebrations, because I really didn’t take that many pictures this year. I guess I was too busy soaking in all the family time and learning what some new traditions and holiday occasions I will be attending once the boy and I are married next year. We spent lots of time with both our families. Above is a look at My family’s beautiful Christmas tree! It was also a Christmas filled with many blessings and gifts from those I love! Lots of new things for the boy and I to use in our house (when we find one) and to enjoy together! As well as a new camera, light box, and some new dishes for my blogging needs ๐Ÿ˜‰

Along with the excitement of planning a wedding and celebrating with family, I also celebrated another wonderful milestone in my life! I graduated from College! It was a truly blessed day, all of that hard work, late nights, and tears finally delivered me my college degree! There were certainly days I thought it would never end, and I would never have my degree! I ended up graduating with a degree in Nutritional Sciences AND a minor in Psychology!

Parents and Fiance

I couldn’t be happier, it feels so freeing to not have to go back to school and work my butt off on homework, studying for exams, etc! It also feels weird because this is really the first time I will not have school to worry about in my life! The day was filled with a ceremony, lots of laughter, and a delicious dinner!

Some Champagne and raspberry!

Delicious salmon!

So what is next you ask!? Well, a little bit of everything! I plan to pick up blogging and cooking A LOT more, it is something that has fallen under the radar since things have been busy, but I love doing it and I plan on posting more often and more recipes! No homework= more time to cook! I will also be working two part-time jobs, both nutrition related and volunteering, relaxing, and wedding planning. A mish mash of things like this is perfect for me right now in this transitioning period of life, once we are married I will settle in to something more permanent.

So look forward to more posts! The blog world and cooking/photography has been missed in my life ๐Ÿ™‚

Graduation Weekend Recap

Hello all from Roma!

I made it here safely yesterday morning! I don’t have too many pics or news for you yet, but a full run down will come soon!

I had an AMAZING weekend with my family in Washington D.C. before I left the states, so here is the recap!

My parents and I left home Friday morning, to attend a ceremony for the honors students at American University ( my brother is graduating with honors)

Program

Me and Momma waiting for it to start

The honors man himself!

Next came the Graduate Cocktail party, which was a lot of fun!

Chilling at the cocktail party

Me and Dad

Fam and Maria (Dan's GF)

Saturday the EU embassies were having open houses, and since we were staying on Embassy row it was the perfect activity!

Sweet re-usable bag from the British embassy

Food offerings

Being a tourist, w/o actually being in England!

We hit up the Denmark Embassy as well

Me and the bro

And the Estonia Embassy

We decided to call it day after these ones, because the lines were getting long and we had to head over the AU for my brother’s graduation!!!!!

Then came dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in DC! Nora uses all in season and organic produce and the food delicious! Such a quaint little spot as well ๐Ÿ™‚

My dad had Nora make special menus for the bro's graduation!

We all started with Bellini's! Champagne and Meyer lemons

I started with a spring greens salad with gorgonzola cheese, and almonds!

Main course was maple duck breast with risotto, beets, and green beans! YUM!

Dessert is a must! Gingered plum crisp with vanilla ice cream!

Such a lovely two days, but the weekend wasn’t over yet! I was running around the hotel packing and repacking a million times for Roma! Sunday morning before I left we all went out to a Mother’s Day brunch and to the farmer’s market in Dupont circle!

We really like buffalo!

Beautiful rubarb!

One last photo of me and the bro!

It was a beautiful weekend! And it was so great to have so much family time, it’s been awhile! I had a good flight to Rome and have been out exploring a lot! My classes seem really interesting, but this whole foreign country thing and city living thing is so new and strange to me. It is going to take some getting used to, but I think know it is going to be an awesome time I will never forget! The other girls are lots of fun too! I will keep you updated once I get settled in to my new city!

Ciao!
